Tooth extraction

Tooth extraction is performed when a tooth cannot be restored due to serious damage or pathology. In rare cases, tooth extraction may be planned as part of orthodontic or prosthodontic treatment to improve oral health and function.
The decision whether to extract a tooth or attempt to save it is made by the dentist in conjunction with the patient after diagnosing and evaluating the condition of the tooth. Prior to the procedure, the dentist will perform a thorough examination and, if necessary, take x-rays to assess the condition of the tooth root and surrounding tissues.
Wisdom tooth extraction is an important dental procedure that requires a professional approach. Wisdom teeth, which typically erupt between the ages of 17 and 25, can cause many problems, including pain, inflammation, and even infection. Wisdom teeth extraction helps prevent these complications and ensures the health of your teeth and gums.

Common indications for wisdom teeth removal:

  • Caries

Wisdom teeth affected by caries are difficult to treat because of their location and accessibility for cleaning.
  • Infections and inflammation

Inflammation of the soft tissue around the wisdom tooth, which can create a risk of infection.
  • Sacs

If abnormal masses such as cysts develop, the tooth must be extracted to prevent further complications.
  • Long-term pain and pressure

Wisdom teeth can cause chronic pain and put pressure on neighbouring teeth.
  • Damage to neighbouring teeth

Improperly positioned wisdom teeth can cause damage to neighbouring teeth.
  • Displacement of other teeth

Wisdom teeth pressure can cause the front teeth to shift and crowd together, making the smile less aesthetically pleasing.

TOOTH EXTRACTION PROCEDURE:

  • Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is used to anesthetize the area of intervention.
  • Preparation: Separation of the gum from the tooth using special instruments to prevent soft tissue trauma.
  • Tooth extraction: Depending on the complexity of the case, the tooth is extracted either as a whole or in parts.
  • Wound treatment: The hole is cleaned of tissue debris and treated to prevent infection, anti-inflammatory drugs are administered.
  • Suturing: If a gum incision has been made, sutures are used.
! To avoid the discomfort and pain that a tooth extraction procedure can cause, sedation (dental treatment in sleep) may also be used during the tooth extraction process to maximize patient comfort!
